The 4451A Automatic Briquet Press is an industry standard that has been around since the 1940's. It is used to briquet non-metallic samples, powdered metals, drillings or millings into suitable specimens for XRF, XRD or optical emission spectrochemical analysis.
A hydraulic pump driven by a 3HP motor provides pressure to briquet a variety of materials. An automatic pressure regulator ensures briquets of uniform density. The applied load is indicated on a large dial gauge.
Powders can be briquetted at pressures as high as 40 tons using mold sizes that range in size from 1/4" up to 40mm in both steel and carbide. Operation is simple and does not require that the mold be removed after each sample as with other presses. A program loading accessory is available for further automating the press operation. |
