X-Ray Sample Prep

The 4451A Automatic Briquet Press is an industry standard that has been around since the 1940's. It is used to briquet non-metallic samples, powdered metals, drillings or millings into suitable specimens for XRF, XRD or optical emission spectrochemical analysis.

A hydraulic pump driven by a 3HP motor provides pressure to briquet a variety of materials. An automatic pressure regulator ensures briquets of uniform density. The applied load is indicated on a large dial gauge.

Powders can be briquetted at pressures as high as 40 tons using mold sizes that range in size from 1/4" up to 40mm in both steel and carbide. Operation is simple and does not require that the mold be removed after each sample as with other presses. A program loading accessory is available for further automating the press operation.

The TE250 Laboratory Ring Pulverizer is the most rugged system of its type. It is used to pulverize a variety of samples to analytical fineness, suitable for analysis by XRF, XRD or optical emission.

A full 1HP motor with direct drive counter weight is used to provide capability for continuous grinding, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A simple "scissors" type clamping mechanism is used for reliable, safe operation, grind after grind. Many container types are available in sizes ranging from 10cc sample size up to 250cc sample size.

Multiple container operation and the use of non-Angstrom containers is also possible with the use of adapter plates.
